Robert Donald Skorheim Sr. retired Lieutenant Commander of the Navy, age 85 a nineteen year resident of Bailey, CO passed away on 4/7/2014. Bob was born in Oak Park, Illinois son of Almer and Jeannette Skorheim. He was an only child and graduated from Oak Park H.S. He received a degree in Electrical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology and a commission in the U.S. Navy as an Ensign. After serving on several destroyers he was sent to the U.S. Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA where he earned a Master's Degree in Seismic Engineering. He then was sent to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil at the request of the Brazilian Navy to be a consultant on underwater sound. He served there for 27 months and then resigned from the Navy. Bob went on to work for the U.S Naval Lab., designing sonar systems and then for an oil company in Dallas with off- shore oil interests, retiring in 1995. Bob is survived by his wife Joan of almost 64 years, two daughters, Patricia (Ross) Ludlow and Susan Officer, four sons, Robert Jr. Richard, John and Bill (Cari), three grandchildren Shawn Ludlow, Travis and Justin Skorheim. A visitation will be held 4/11 at 1:00 followed by a Rosary at 1:30. A Funeral Mass will follow the Rosary at 2:00 all located at Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church, 9444 Eagle Cliff Road.
