SCOTT, James M. Sr. "Jim" Of Newton, MA and Naples, FL, loving husband of Angela (Iannuzzi, Amodeo) Scott passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Weymouth, MA on January 20, 1926, Jim was the son of the late William and Margaret (Spillaine) Scott. Jim grew up in Weymouth and after his graduation from Weymouth High School, he enlisted in the Navy in 1944 and he was a very proud Veteran of the Greatest Generation of World War II. After his service, he attended and graduated from the University of Maryland with a BS degree. While at Maryland, Jim was the captain of the Wrestling Team leading the team to many championship matches! Upon graduation, he worked for Commercial Solvents in NY, NY. Always an Entrepreneur and Salesman at heart, Jim purchased Old Mother Hubbard Dog Food Company, Inc in 1961 with his late wife, Dorothea. As President and CEO, Jim was very successful in growing his business to include the Wellness Pet Food Brand and starting his own distribution business - Scott's Distributing. Jim was very proud that both of his businesses were family businesses with Angela, his children and grandchildren working with him. He was active in his businesses until his retirement in 2008. Jim's other passion was Golf. He was a member at the Charles River Country Club in Newton, MA and the Quail Creek Country Club in Naples FL. He met many of his lifelong friends on the links! Jim dedicated his life to his family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the many wonderful relatives and friends he had over the years. In addition to his wife, Angela of 35 years, Jim is survived by his children, Diane Scott O'Brien of Beverly, MA, Jim Scott Jr. and his wife Janet of Singer Island FL, Tom Scott and his wife Maureen of North Andover, MA, Jack Scott of Jupiter, FL, Angela's children, Dr Ralph Iannuzzi and his wife Ann of Weston, MA and Dorothea Iannuzzi of Lexington, MA; 18 Grandchildren, Michael O'Brien and his wife Lindsay, Aimee (Scott) Murray and her husband Patrick, James M. Scott III, Matthew O'Brien, Andrew Scott and his wife Katie, John Scott, Kevin Scott, Liam Scott, Patrick Scott, Anthony Freniere and his companion, Hilary Binks, Joseph Iannuzzi and his companion, Melissa Lantz, Elizabeth (Iannuzzi) Lucero and her husband Matias, Adam Freniere and his wife Tammie, Angela Freniere, Sarah Peralta and her companion Andrew Francisco, Evan Peralta, Michael Scott and Juney Scott; Great- Grandchildren, Rory Elizabeth O'Brien and Shaun Patrick Murray; Sister-in-law Rosetta Hassan and many wonderful Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends. Jim was also the husband of the late Dorothea McKenney Scott, the brother of the late Margaret "Peggy" Scott Threlfall, Norman Scott and Anna Scott Hunter and Angela's daughter the late Eva Freniere. Arrangements: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 1321 Centre St., Newton, MA. Friends and relatives are invited to attend. Burial will follow in the Newton Cemetery, 791 Walnut Street, Newton Center, MA. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, April 24, 2017 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Andrew J Magni and Son Funeral Home, 365 Watertown St., NEWTON, MA. Friends and relatives are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that contributions be made to: Krempels Center, 100 Campus Drive, Suite 24, Portsmouth, NH 03801 and/or Melmark NE, 461 River Road, Andover, MA 01810.
