Gerald (Jerry) Lee Mulqueen, born August 7, 1944, son of Elizabeth Anne DeRocker Mulqueen and Daniel Martin Mulqueen died alone at his home in Strasburg, VA on August 10 at the age of 68. Jerry's wife, Juliana (Julie) Simpson, predeceased him in 2009 after a losing bout with brain cancer. Jerry is survived by his brother, Daniel John Mulqueen (Ann) of Reston, VA; his two nephews, Danny and Sean, and one niece, Jennifer Williams; five great-nephews and one great-niece. Jerry was very close to Julie's children and called himself "grandpa" to Julie's grandchildren. Jerry will also be missed by his many cousins from the Mulqueen and DeRocker families as well as his many friends with whom he worked. Jerry attended St. Francis Xavier grade school and Bishop O'Connell H.S. in Washington, D.C. He joined the U.S. Navy soon after graduation earning Beach Jumper status, was then deployed to a destroyer in the Mediterranean. He attended Western Kentucky University before joining the Central Intelligence Agency, serving 27 years to include one European and two Far Eastern tours before retiring in 1994. For the past 15 years he has been an independent contractor with Raytheon Corporation, resigning just prior to his death. Jerry enjoyed traveling and birding with Julie, visiting the lower 48 states in his Red Daytona" as well many world traveling adventures. Visitation will be Thursday, August 16 at 11:00 a.m. - 12 noon followed by a brief memorial service at the Adams-Green Funeral Home in Herndon, VA. Jerry's ashes will be buried with his Mother and Father at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah, NJ. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a contribution be made to your favorite charity .
