Ronald E. Casto, resident of Fraser for over 30 years, died peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on December 11, 2021. He was 75 years of age. Ronald was born on January 23, 1946 in Huntington, West Virginia, son of the late Eugene and Mavis (Nickel) Casto. He served our country honorably in the U. S. Navy Beach Jumper Unit during the Vietnam War where he earned various medals including two purple hearts. Ronald was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Karen Konewka, on April 7, 1979 in Toledo, Ohio. Ron loved Ham Radio and he was a member of the Utica Shelby Emergency Communication Association. He loved tending to his garden in the warm summer months and enjoyed gourmet cooking. Ron was known for his amazing spaghetti and his summer fish fry’s; everyone looked forward to a meal cooked by Ron. He was an avid reader who had extensive knowledge of history and studied the bible. He also had been a Master Mason in a Masonic Lodge. Ron participated in historical reenacting as a Lieutenant of the French-Indian war. He enjoyed camping and being out on the water fishing. Ron loved his family and he will be deeply missed. His light will live on in our hearts. Ron is the beloved husband of Karen; dearest father of Stephen Casto, Amy (Keith) Long, Wendy Casto, Matthew (Rachelle) Casto and Dana (Kevin) Donovan; cherished grandfather of Steven, Brandon, Naomi, Kevin Jr. and Daniel; and loving brother of Bruce (Carol) and the late John and Lois. Visitation will be held at Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Road, Fraser, Friday from 2pm - 8pm and Saturday from 10am until the time of funeral at 11am.
