John C. Bohannan, age 80, of Springfield, passed away in his home on Saturday, November 17, 2012. He was born to John and Elizabeth (Tunnicuit) Bohannan, on May 23, 1932, in McCloud, Oklahoma. John was united in marriage to Rosalma Cherry on April 4, 1955. John joined the U.S. Navy in 1949. He served in the Korean War as a radioman on the USS Little, a radar technician in the Vietnam War, as well as a beach jumper on special operations. John served on the shore patrol before retiring from the Navy in 1973. John joined the Norfolk County Sheriff's Office, in Norfolk, Virginia, soon after retiring from the Navy. He served 20 years with the Sheriff's Office, retiring as a Lieutenant. John is survived by his wife, Rosalma, sons John C. Bohannan III, and wife Terry, of Fontana, CA, Kenneth Bohannan and wife Sharon, of Springfield, MO, and Richard Bohannan, of Norfolk, VA, and one brother, James Bohannan, of Sacramento, CA and three grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents, and ten siblings. A funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 21, 2012 in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa with burial to follow at 1:00 P.M. in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 145550, Cincinnati, OH, 45250.
