Funeral services for Dickie Ray Oden, 61, of Sweetwater will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2008, at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with pastor Jimmy Bennett officiating. Burial will follow at Blackwell Cemetery with U.S. Naval Honor Guard. The funeral services for Mr. Oden will be under the direction of Cate- Spencer & Trent Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, June 8, 2008, between 6:30-8 p.m. He died Friday, June 6, 2008, at his residence. He was born on Jan. 31, 1947, in Loraine, and Mr. Oden was married to Linda Waller on Feb. 21, 1974, in Trent. A member of Faith Harvest Pentecostal Church, he was a self-employed auto body mechanic.He also was a U.S. Navy veteran serving as a Navy paratrooper. Survivors include his wife, Linda Oden of Sweetwater; two sons, Todd Webster and wife Trisha of Kingsland and Troy Webster of Burnett; two daughters, Zoie Youngblood of Llano and Kristi Wiltse and husband Brian of Odessa; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; three sisters, Faye Wilson and husband Dudley of Fredericksburg, Nellie Higgins and husband Jack of Marionette and Tootsie Morris of Colorado City; and one brother, James Oden and wife Ruth of Saginaw. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Dessie Oden; four brothers, Hollis Oden, Jimmy Oden, Jerry Oden and Hayes Oden; and one sister, Maybelle Trout. Pallbearers will be Randall Cunningham, Russell Smith, Carl Parks, Monty Young, Dale Clopton and Jeremy Oden. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Big Country, 4601 Hartford Street, Abilene, Texas 79605.
