Posted online Feb. 21, 2021 SOUTH PORTLAND – Bruce A. MacGilvray, of South Portland, passed away at home of natural causes on Dec. 8, 2020. Bruce grew up in South Portland, graduating from South Portland High School in 1963. He served in the U.S. Navy, 1966-1970. He was awarded several decoration medals during his service, including the Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze stars. After returning to the mainland, he enjoyed his foldable Folbot Supra sail boat in the Portland Harbor, scuba diving and skiing. Bruce worked for the United States post office for over 40 years and was active in the National Postal Mail Handlers Union and served as president of the Portland branch. He was a longtime member of the U.S. Navy Beach Jumpers Association and local VFW. He was predeceased by his parents, Ronald A. MacGilvray and Hazel A. (Klowas) MacGilvray; and a brother, William MacGilvray.
