William S. Preuss, 83 of Turlock, CA, passed away on Dec. 20. He was born in Maddock, ND to his parents William and Katherine Preuss. He grew up on the family farm south of Esmond, ND. After graduating high school in Maddock, he joined the Navy where he studied electronics. While stationed in San Francisco he met Betty. Soon after he was discharged, they were married from 1962-2023. They lived in San Jose 6 years, then moved to Newman for 30 years, then Cressey for 24 years, then to Covenant Living in Turlock. He worked for Lockheed, IBM, Stanford Research Institute and Fisher metal detectors.He is survived by his wife Betty, two children Susan (Sheldon) Walker and William (Traci) Preuss, and two grandsons David Castro (Amber) and Andrew Preuss, his two brothers Jerry (Sharon) Preuss and Loren (Gloria) Preuss, one sister Connie (James) Dunkelberger, and one brother-in-law Robert (Becky) Anderson. He was preceded in death by his brother Ron and sister Carol.He was a member of the Orestimba Presbyterian Church in Newman for over 50 years. He taught 4H woodworking for 15 years. He enjoyed world travel, collecting puzzles, gardening, accordion playing, polka music and wood carving.A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 20 at 2pm at Covenant Living, Berg Hall, in Turlock. Interment will be at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella at a later date.Remembrance may be made to: Orestimba Presbyterian Church, 1107 Kern St., Newman, CA. 95360 or Covenant Living, benevolent care fund, 2125 N.
