There was no discussion on the minutes as presented, a motion and second to approve as presented, in favor -all, opposed-none. No meeting was held in 2007 Treasurers Report: Ending general checking  balance for 2006 $4,626.08 Deposits for 2007 from dues, sales credits, shipstore $3,339.19 Debits for 2007, website hosting, stationary, printing,Postage etc.  $915.38 Ending general checking balance for 2007  $7,049.89 Deposits for 2008, Jan.1 thru Oct. 17 th  includes dues,sales credits, shipstore sales, reunion deposits    $8,024.62 Debits for 2008, Jan.1 thru Oct 17 th  website hosting,stationary, printing, postage, ceremony plaques,challenge coins, etc.   $1,919.19 Balance in general checking as of Oct 17 th $13,155.32 Projected reunion costs for 2008 including corsages,ceremony wreaths, command plaque, certificate holders,hospitality misc. expenses, base luncheon, Fridaybuffet and Saturday banquet, etc. $7,000.00 Projected remaining balance in general checking  $6,155.32 New acct. USNBJA Memorial Marker Fund balanceas of Oct.16 th  $6,158.40 PayPal account balance as of Oct. 17 th $420.57 CafePress shipstore credit as of Oct.17 th $7.00 Directors Reports: Roy Havekost reported that in the past year the website has received  over  1,300,000 hits and yielded 48 new members since the last reunion. He reminded everyone to keep their email addresses and home address information up to date so that they would not miss any important notices that may be sent out. Unfinished business: Beach Jumper Memorial Executive Board Search Committee (2006) report. In short the committee decided not to pursue the placement of a Memorial for Beach Jumpers on any Navy base property as the annual maintenance costs would be cost prohibitive in future years.  An alternate location was decided for Ocracoke Island, NC. New Business: Beach Jumper Memorial Marker, Ocracoke Island, N.C.  Ballot/vote tally. 30 ballots were cast Totaling 29 Yes, 1 Abstention.  According to Roberts Rules an abstention can be counted with the majority votes, making the vote unanimous for this project proposal. Memorial  Marker  drafts were displayed for the members. The marker committee approved the drafts in order that a more definitive cost can be determined for the marker. (The drafts  are now displayed on the website).  As more information is obtained it will be posted on the website.  Both a reunion and marker unveiling are being planned for November 2009 on Ocracoke Island, NC where Beach Jumpers trained during World War II. Reunion 2009 Coordinator, Roger Mills BJU-2 . New business opened to floor, none noted. Awards / Presentations: NIOC:  Certificates of Appreciation were presented to LCDR Fred Lindy III, CO; LCDR Adrian Bejar, XO; ETCS Gregory Robinson, SEL; and CTTC Anthony Beltran, OPS/POC. Certificates of Appreciation, were presented to John Spielmann, Reunion Coordinator, and to his wife Lisa,  Barry Trauger,  Scott Brown,  Jeff Samford and a Special Certificate of Appreciation to Eileen Havekost from her husband Roy. Certificates of Recognition and Special WWII Challenge Coin presentations went to Norris Fanning, BJU-7, and Edwin Benjamins, BJU-6.  Bill Cochran accepted the certificate and coin for his father Wilmer Cochran Jr., BJU-6. Carl Kilhoffer, on behalf of the Board of Directors presented Roy Havekost with a bronze statue of the ‘Lone Sailor’ in recognition of his lone efforts in the creation of the Beach Jumpers website which eventually lead to the creation of the Beach Jumpers Association.
